What to know before you decide

01

Know the categories

Inside cabins lack exterior windows; oceanview rooms may have fixed windows; balconies add outdoor space; suite benefits vary.

02

Study the deck plan

Check noise, obstructed views, bedding, accessibility, connecting doors and elevator distance.

03

Compare total cost

Consider gratuities, taxes, Wi-Fi, dining and cancellation terms alongside the cabin fare.

04

Evaluate cabin location as carefully as class

Compare the actual deck plan, not just the label. An interior room can be cost-efficient for travelers who spend little time inside; an oceanview room may provide light without outdoor access; a balcony adds private exterior space but may have an obstructed view. Suites differ widely in room layout and benefits. Check proximity to theaters, pools, elevators and service areas, plus connecting-door needs and accessibility.

05

A fair side-by-side price comparison

For each cabin option, record the fare for the same sailing, passenger count and fare rules, including taxes, port charges and applicable gratuities. Add any benefits actually included in that fare rather than assuming Wi-Fi, dining or drinks are included in every suite. Compare cancellation penalties and deposit terms. If assigning a guarantee cabin, explain that location may be selected later and should not be represented as a specifically chosen room.
